Alice Munro
Alice Munro is a writer who comes from Canada. He was born and grew up in Wingham, Ontario, Canada. He writes fiction since 1950. His book is almost always consists of a collection of short stories. Only one book which he published as a novel. The stories include very simple because it takes place where he grew up and the story associated with everyday events.

Born in 1931 into a peasant family, Alice Munro could get a scholarship from the University of Western Ontario. He learned only about two years, from 1949 to 1951, and he decided to move to Vancouver before he graduated. He had become the manager of a bookstore in Victoria, British Columbia for several years. In 1972, he returned to Ontario.

His work was first published in the student literary magazine in 1950. Since then, more of his work published. Fifteen works initially he made one in the form of a book titled Dance of the Happy Shades (1974). Initially, the book was published in Canada and won the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction. And he repeated his success to the next, Who Do You Think You Are? (1978) and The Progress of Love (1986).

Evidently, he is a prolific writer. He issued several works such as Friend of My Youth (1990) and The Love of a Good Woman (1998). And his works also won several awards such as the Canadian Booksellers Association Award.

Alice Munro is also a television script writer. Manuscript titled Runaway (2005) won the Commonwealth Writer's Prize in 2005. His latest work is Away From Her (2007). And in 2009, he became the winner of the Man Booker International Prize.
