Madeleine Albright Korbelova is first woman to serve as Secretary of the United States. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton on December 5, 1996 and was sworn in on January 23, 1997. Born with the name Marie Jana Korbelova in Prague, Czechoslovakia on May 15, 1937, Madeleine was the son of a Jewish diplomat, Josef Korbel.
