Biography of Karan Johar

Karan Johar is a film director, producer, and celebrities India. He was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India on May 25, 1972 as the son of the couple Hiroo Yash Yohar and Yohar.

He is one of a number of successful directors in Bollywood. He was educated at Inverness High School and HR College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai.

Production house named Dharma Productions is a company owned by Johar who belonged to the father. As a child he was much influenced by a number of Indian cinema and considers a number of stars like Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra and Sooraj R. Barjatya as his inspiration.

Johar began to enter the film industry as an actor whose role as a close friend of Shahrukh Khan in the movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Javenge in 1995. Apart from being an actor, in the making of this film he also as an assistant director, Aditya Chopra.

He launched his first movie filmed in 1998 titled Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The film won several awards at the Filmfare Award in 1998, including as Best Movie and Best Director.

In November 2009, Johar has completed a film called My Name Is Khan starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol Devgan. The film was released on February 12, 2010 and premiered in Abu Dhabi and Berlin.

On television, he is the presenter of a show called Koffee with Karan. In 2010 he was also working on a television show called Lift Kara De.

In 2007, Johar was selected as one of 250 Global Young Leaders by the Geneva. Earlier, on September 30, 2006, he became the first Indian director who became a judge on the Miss World in Warsaw, Poland.
